Cremation Services

Cremation services are provided by a local licensed pet crematorium called Caring Pet Crematory in Sacramento (www.caringpetcrematory.com). Dr. Sarah will provide transportation of your pet to the crematorium.  If you wish you can arrange for the crematorium to pick up your pet from you for an additional fee.

We offer either communal cremation or a private cremation. For a communal cremation the ashes will not be returned to you.  A private cremation means that your pet will be individually cremated in a private chamber and the ashes will be returned in a rosewood carved wooden urn.

Please note, cremation fees are not included in the fee for the euthanasia appointment.  Please see below for fees.  These fees include Faithful Friend providing transportation to the crematory and for an individual cremation they include the rosewood carved urn.

COVID 19 Update

Faithful Friend is committed to continue providing end-of-life services to our community during this time. While this is a very stressful time for our entire global community, we also understand the very personal and often heartbreaking decision you are experiencing with your pet. 

We understand that there are additional concerns regarding client health and safety, as such, we are following current recommended precautions to help reduce the spread of corona virus. Our current procedures include less physical interaction and increased physical distance between our veterinarian and clients, Our staff will be wearing personal protective equipment at each visit, and any non-disposable veterinary supplies are being disinfected after each appointment.

 

  1. We ask that you not schedule an appointment if you, or any member of your household, are currently ill OR if you have had known contact with a person with COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Please call, text, or email if you have special circumstances.
  2. We will try to maintain a 6 ft distance from owners when possible and will have to forgo our customary handshakes and hugs. We are currently not entering homes and all appointments will be conducted outdoors (front yard, back yard, or garage.) For cats and small pets that may not typically go outdoors, you may hold your pet at the doorway and we will administer the sedation injection in the doorway.  You may then carry your pet back inside to be with him/her as the sedation takes effect and your pet falls asleep. We understand this looks different than our usual appointments but we believe this will still provide a peaceful euthanasia experience for your pets while minimizing the risk of spreading the virus.
  3. All traditional paperwork will be completed prior to our arrival at your home. We will send a photo/scan of your pet’s euthanasia authorization form prior to your appointment. You will be asked to review the document for accuracy, and we will note that you have given permission for the euthanasia via phone. All payments will be made online. This means that we will not be able to accept cash or check payments. The payment can be made online when the appointment is booked or we will email you a link to make the payment. You may still use Scratch Pay for a payment plan option. We are requesting payments be completed by the end of the day of your visit. 
  4. We have traditionally asked owners to assist us in lifting dogs over 50 pounds when owners request our services for body care. We are happy to transport any pet under 50 pounds without owner assistance. For pets over 50 pounds, owners will need to either be able to lift the pet into our vehicle, or contact a local crematorium for transport of remains. 

 

We understand the need for compassion and empathy during this time of crisis and uncertainty. We are here to help our clients and their dearly loved pets in the best way we can. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
