About Dr. Sarah Whitley, DVM

Dr. Sarah grew up in the Sacramento region in a family with dogs, cats, and horses.  She dreamed of being a veterinarian from a very early age and always desired to stay in the greater Sacramento region and be near her family.

Dr. Sarah works as an emergency veterinarian at Pet Emergency Center in Roseville since 2006, working full time emergency for 10 years and now picking up shifts as she is able.  She graduated from the University of California Davis, with honors, receiving a B.S. in Animal Science with equine specialization in 2000. She graduated from the University of California Davis with a D.V.M in 2006 as part of the Phi Zeta Honor Society.

She is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, the California Veterinary Medical Association, and the IAAHPC (International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative care).

Dr. Sarah has a wonderful husband and four amazing human children that are very active and full of adventure!  She and her family are all considered animal lovers and that can include pets as well as snails and earthworms, baby birds, and squirrels.

Currently she also has the privilege of calling 3 dogs and 5 cats part of the family.  She understands the amazing place that pets have in people’s lives. Dr. Sarah feels that her life would not be complete without her special pets being part of it.

As an emergency veterinarian she has often diagnosed life threatening illnesses and injuries and had to help pet owners navigate the difficult decision of when is the right time to say goodbye to their pet.  She has realized that being there for people and their pets in their final moments is a very special honor.  Many owners wish to have their final moments at home with their pet instead of in a busy veterinary hospital. Dr. Sarah believes that a home euthanasia is a better option for a tranquil passage for our pets due to the decreased stress on them and a more relaxed process.  Dr. Sarah started Faithful Friend to help answer that need and provide a peaceful transition in the comfort of your pets favorite place surrounded by those they love.
